Raspberry Hazelnut Cocktail

raspberry hazelnut cocktail
francelico recipe

I have been "Pinteresting" entirely too much lately. I have been eyeing gobs and gobs of delicious drinks. So I peaked into my liquor cabinet to see what I had on hand. I created this simple and tasty:

Raspberry Hazelnut Cocktail

1 1/2 oz Frangelico
1/2 oz triple sec
2 oz raspberry puree
Ice
Shaker

Fill cocktail shaker about 1/3 of the way with ice. Add ingredients. (I used previously frozen raspberries so they were already in puree form. You could always muddle fresh ones if you have those) Shake well, then pour the entire contents into a glass. I garnished mine with a dab of vanilla Greek yogurt and hazelnuts.

This was so simple, and the raspberries and hazelnuts complimented each other oh so well.

Girls Ballerina Invitation Idea

This is an adorable card that my 9 year old created for her 5 year old sister. I thought it was such a cute idea that I had to share. This could be used for any kind of party invitation, and the best part is the girl's can help you make and color them.

Anika was so very proud to be featured on "mom's blog". I definetely think we will be using this idea for an upcoming birthday or girls sleepover invites.

Random Ramblings

I have to admit, I'm still amazed that it is already March! This year is flying by so fast; they seem to do that when you have children.

I was a little upset the other day when I received my work schedule for this month. Too many night shifts for me. Only two per week, but anymore it is next to impossible for me to get enough sleep to function properly and it takes me days before I'm feeling back to normal. One of the nurse's is out, so I get to fill in. The extra money will help, but it's going to wear me out. I don't know how those of you do it full time. I used too.... back when I had one baby, not three. I'm tired just thinking about it.

The kiddos must be going through a growth spurt, sleeping in longer, whiny, fighting more, and Noah has a cold on top of it which makes it even harder. But yesterday, for about thirty minutes, they got along. Emma decided she was going to make me lunch, so she went in her room and got her princess table and set it up and enlisted Noah as her assistant. I was instructed not to look as they prepared my meal, so I played along. I could over hear her telling Noah, "We need to make mom healthy nurse food! No candy." And healthy they did! A big pile of greens, apples, string cheese and yogurt galore! Oh, and a jar of my homemade pickles! (Recipe here.)

I was proud of the fact that they know what healthy food is, but I'm not so sure about this 'nurses don't eat junk food and candy' stuff. ;) Emma said, "Nurse's eat nourishing food!"

It was cute.

Anika's first soccer game of the season is today! Unfortunately Wayne has a class all day and will not be able to make it...so I will be there with the little two cheering on! I can't imagine how hectic the schedule will become when Emma starts kindergarten and begins having her own schedule....and then when all three are in activities! I will have be be perfecting my wonder woman skills before then!

Apple Pie Smoothie

apple pie smoothie

Tell me, who isn't in love with Pinterest? It is so amazing to just pop over to one site and find everything and anything creative and beautiful. I stumbled upon this recipe for an apple pie smoothie, and I just had to try it.

I love to make smoothies and my favorites are pretty much any kind of berries with mango's. An apple smoothie sounded just so different that I had to try. It actually is pretty good! Its packed with protein and fiber so its really good for you! The consistency is a little creamier than I am used to, but overall not bad. Why don't you try it and tell me what you think?

Apple Pie Smoothie

1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1 cup raw apple, peeled and chopped (I used braeburn)
2 tsp walnuts
2 TB ground flax seed
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/2 cup cold water
5 large ice cubes

blend all ingredients in blender until smooth :)
