Finding Contentment.

Back some years ago (and even a few months ago) I felt like being a mom just wasn't enough. I saw others who had pursued careers before children and had what I deemed as more "success" than I.

I don't even think I was conscious of this.

Maybe I hit my stress breaking point, maybe I've grown up more and grown into loving my "mom" job more.

Perhaps I quiet comparing. Stopped worrying about other peoples thoughts.

Whatever change has happened - I like it. There's a new peace inside of me.

I feel blessed in this hustle and bustle of raising kids. Life is not perfect; there are many ups and downs, but what I've realized is right now, I'm right where I'm meant to be.

  1. Hi, Melissa!
I am so happy for you that you are at peace with the life that you have chosen. Very very few people can say the same thing. You are hardly the big three o' yet and you have already stored up for you a treasure that is almost immesurable...the one thing most people covet: The ability to look back without regret.

  2. Hi Melissa, I'm the mom of 5 grown children and while they were growing up I did it both ways. Sometimes I worked and sometimes I was at home. I can tell you truthfully that now that I am 56 and have two grandchildren, I wish I had stayed home all the time. It is the harder, better choice. Blessings to you and do some visit me and link up with my blog hop.

  3. It is such a struggle finding balance between raising kids and wanting to be there and feeling like you're missing so something in career land.

What it all boils down to for me is that after my kids are raised and not interested in me anymore I will have plenty of time to do whatever I want. But raising them has been best career move I ever made.

  5. Motherhood is a job you have 24/7 and if a parent fails at raising their child, they ruin that child's life as well as anyone the child interacts with negatively in the future. I think motherhood is the most important job of all. Where else can you have a long term study of an adorable subject and watch them learn and grow into good people because of your influence? Motherhood is as rewarding as it is hard. Don't ever think because you're a mama you're not as successful as a mom with a day job. I do both and let me tell you, the day job pays the bills....but.... if I lost it, I'd move on. If I lost my son, I'd be devastated.

I'm glad you're at peace with your life :)

  6. Hi! I'm dropping by from Our Everyday Harvest's weekend blog hop. Being a mom is a wonderful calling. You impact lives every day and some day those young ones of yours will make their mark in the world and also impact lives. It is all a blessing. I used to worry about what other people thought and then remembered that the only thoughts that matter are the thoughts of the ones I love. You have a beautiful family. :) Hope you can drop by.

  7. Thanks everyone for all of the kind and inspiring words. Someone once told me that being a mom is the toughest job you will ever love. How true that is. <3
