Create.Simplify.Inspire. #86

Hey everyone! Today was a pretty good day - my little miss Emma had a special Student of the Month breakfast at school that consisted of cinnamon rolls and orange juice, ( quite the breakfast, I know ), and then I had a work meeting and got all caught up on PTO stuff - I'm trying to finally get things all organized so this year will be a better year. It's already off to a much better start than it was last year.

This weekend I'm not doing much besides working. One of the other nurses took a week off, so I'll be working the swing shift until Tuesday. When I work that many days straight it really makes me feel blessed that I don't have to do that all of the time. I'd miss out on all of the family stuff and school events.

What are you up to this weekend? Hopefully you're not working and are out having some fun!

Create.Simplify.Inspire. #84

Hey everyone! After working yesterday evening I'm looking forward to spending two days with Noah at home, getting stuff organized and cleaned around here. I've also been making tons of pasta sauce and freezing it with our vacuum sealer. One of Wayne's co-workers has been giving him tons of fresh produce and I've got over 50 pounds of tomatoes! No joke! We will have plenty of pasta sauce for the months to come and I never realized how easy it is to make, it takes a few hours for the tomatoes to cook down, so my house has smelled so good the past few days!

Anyways, those are my big plans for today, what about you?

    How's your week going?

I'd love it if you shared!

Create.Simplify.Inspire. #83

Yes, this post is a few hours late. Yes, last week I said I had hoped for a more mellow week. Yes, I jinxed myself. Today was filled with work - I covered a day shift which I never do, and ended up working from 6am-4pm, then I had our first PTO meeting of the year to rush off too, but I also found out yesterday that Anika started soccer today. At 5:30. And my meeting was at 6 - 10 miles away. And I had to drop off Emma and Noah first. I actually surprised myself that I wasn't late to anything.

I'm laying in bed before 10 pm and ready for bed, which is very unusual for me. Tomorrow I'm heading over to help my friend set up for her wedding (which is Saturday), and then heading in to work an evening shift. I know a lot of women do it, but I don't think there is anyway I could work full time, blog, and be involved with the school and sports. There's not enough hours in the day!

    How's your week going?

I'd love it if you shared!

Hey everyone! Last week at this time I was just beginning my exhausting work week, and tonight I am just now finally finishing up with it. I'm looking forward to a much more mellow week ( I knock on wood while I say that! ) getting my house back in order and finishing up getting the kids ready for school.

What have you been up to this week? I'd love it if you shared!

Create.Simplify.Inspire. #81

Hi everyone! Apparently I have lost track of time and this post is nearly 24 hours late...better late than never, right? I've had the last two days at home with the kids - no schedules, no errands to run - but I have been trying to get caught up and ahead on everything because starting tomorrow I will be working my "other" nursing job 5 out of 6 days. Not bad for a lot of people, but I'm not used to that many days in a row working outside of the home in addition to the work that I do from home...and my kids aren't too happy when I'm gone that much either. I tell them they're spoiled. :)

What have you been up to this week? I'd love it if you shared!

Create.Simplify.Inspire. #80

Hi everyone! This week has been a more low key week as far as running around goes, but my to-do lists and agenda are growing by the minute! Next week is Anika's birthday and I normally have it planed out way in advance, but my work schedule was postponed so I didn't know what days I would be working my nursing job... well the schedule didn't come out until July 29th and then with the fair keeping us busy I STILL didn't get anything planned. So a couple of days ago we sat down and decided to do a little backyard BBQ and sleepover for her and 5 of her friends this Sunday, so I've been prepping for that in addition to a bunch of other stuff. I can't wait to show you everything though! We've gone recycle crazy and all of her decorations are made with my old People and US Weekly magazines! It will be super cute. I plan to have it up on here by next Tuesday (her actual birthday) but we shall see... I've got a bunch of other fun stuff scheduled to post next week too. :)

What have you been up to this week? I'd love it if you shared!

Create.Simplify.Inspire. #79

Well everyone - I know last week at this time I was embarking on my Jury Duty adventure, but it turns out it didn't go too far. All I ended up doing was sitting through the jury selection process for other jurors which took up the entire morning. I did my last call in tonight and now my term is done...which is a good thing because I'm in full swing fair mode. The Yamhill County Fair began yesterday, but Anika has been preparing for it since May. She's up and at the fair by 7am every morning and today was her first showing of her lamb. Tomorrow is round two and will be for her showmanship. She's pretty nervous and I can't blame her. My little 75 lb girl ended up with one of the biggest lambs. At the official weigh in he was 134 lbs!

Keep your fingers crossed for her tomorrow!

As I type this I should be in bed because I found out that I have to report for Jury Duty first thing in the morning - but of course here I am up way too late once again and will play catch up with coffee in the morning. :) Yesterday I had an amazing time at an event at Nautilus headquarters in Vancouver, WA. They're the creative minds behind Bowflex and Schwinn. I'll share pictures soon, but in the meantime you can look at a couple on my Instagram account. It was a very fun day and I drove home last night feeling extremely blessed.

Create.Simplify.Inspire. #77

So I sat down last night to type up a couple of paragraphs and share this post - and wouldn't you know I once again fell asleep on the couch while trying to type! I guess it's time that I just try heading to bed earlier - but then I would never get anything done! :)
Tonight I'm pretty excited to be attending a Brewery Dinner at Whole Foods Market in Portland. It's a four course dinner featuring Ft. George Brewery. If you are in the area tickets are still available and are only $25! If you can't make it, you can drool along on my Instagram this evening.

Well, all of the fabulous things I had thought about writing will have to wait, as I'm heading out the door to take my little ladies to another day of cheer camp.

Create.Simplify.Inspire. #76

Happy Thursday everyone! This week is just flying by as I am trying to get back into our routine at home which really isn't much of a routine considering it's summer time. Last night Anika had a softball game - the first game of their tournaments and surprisingly we won, which means we will be playing one last game this coming Saturday against the best team around. It's always so nice to see a good group of kids and a dedicated coach make such huge improvements as a team over the course of a couple of months.

Today I'm actually headed up to Portland for a day of learning with Problogger's Darren Rowse. There is a huge gathering called the World Domination Summit in Portland and I couldn't afford to attend the entire thing, but they had a couple workshops open up that you could pay for individually. I'm super excited to learn more from people that have way more knowledge than I do!

What are you up to this week? I'd love it if you shared!

Create.Simplify.Inspire. #74

I have shocking news to share with everyone! We have NO plans this weekend! Well, Wayne may have to work on Sunday, but we have no games, no events, nothing other than having Anika take care of her lamb, and me working from home. It's seriously been months I think since this has happened! It won't last long though, because next week we are all heading to the coast to camp at one of my friend's houses for a couple of days for the 4th of July weekend which I can't believe is right around the corner! Do you have any 4th of July posts you'd like to share? I'm looking for some more inspiration for my Red, White and Blue Pinterest board!

Create.Simplify.Inspire. #73

Today marks one week into our summer break already, can you believe it? Emma's last T-ball game is Saturday and then we just have Anika's games for a couple more weeks and her little lamb FFA project. I am really loving the idea of just having my kids and hanging out around the house completing little DIY projects that have been put off for one to many years. It was always so hard to get things done when I had babies, but now that they are older I feel like this is really the first year that they can all play together outside while I work on things...and in fact if you follow me on Instagram you already know that my friend and I started one project yesterday, and I'm crossing my fingers that I can get it done today!

What are your summer DIY's that need to be done? My list is a mile long... :)

Create.Simplify.Inspire. #72

Today is officially our first day of summer break, and the only thing I have on the calendar is one softball practice! It will be a much needed day of working around the house and getting it back into order after the past week.

I also want to start creating a summer bucket list. We did one last year and it was so much fun to cross things off as we accomplished them and really helped us having it visible for all of us to see everyday.

Do you do a summer bucket list? What are some of you must-do things every year?

Call me crazy but I literally just realized that today is Thursday! For whatever reason I had it in my head that it was only Wednesday, this week is just flying by and then next week the kids have only half a week of school left! We don't have too many things scheduled yet this summer, and I'm glad...I'm looking forward to a low key couple of months after the busy school year!

Do you have any summer activities planned? I'd love to hear about them!

Hi everyone! Is it seriously Thursday already? I think the Monday holiday has really thrown me off this week! Today is Noah's last day of preschool, so tonight we will be going to his graduation (well, his participation) and it just doesn't seem like he should be four years old already! Time really does fly.

Tomorrow I'll share a fun project that I've been working on in lieu of the upcoming summer weather, but today I'd love to see what you've been working on or creating!

Create.Simplify.Inspire. #69

Hi everyone! I'm sharing this about 10 hours late today because, well, let's just say I'll be glad when this week is over! From kidney stones, to a car collision (no one was hurt), to arguing with our bank, and all of the everyday stuff in between, I'm beat! I am normally up until midnight or one am working on here, but the past two nights I can't keep my eyes open past eleven - and before then I'm not doing much work because my brain is just exhausted.

I am working on a couple posts today though, and tomorrow I'll have all of the photos and recap of Noah's 4th birthday party to share! We went to the aquatic center last Sunday and he had so much fun.

So tell me, how is your week going? Accomplished anything you'd like to share?

Create.Simplify.Inspire. #68

Today I began something that I've been putting off for a long time - cleaning the carpets. I put it off until they are downright embarrassing and then it takes me SO long to get them cleaned. It looks like I'll be cleaning again all morning tomorrow.

I've gotten an urge to finally do some things around the house that have been on my to do list for a long time now. Things like cleaning the carpet, staining the fence and decks, and hopefully putting tile in our bathrooms. I think maybe it's because a know several people moving and even though I sometimes get the urge to move into a house that is bigger and better I don't; one reason being that I love our location. It's perfectly situated between all of the schools. Secondly, I love our mortgage. It's affordable, and I'd hate to have to work even more just to have more space.

Anyways, that's just what's been on my mind this evening - do you have any home projects that you will be tackling this summer?

Create.Simplify.Inspire. #67

I wrote on my personal Facebook that this week is perhaps the busiest week I've ever had. I'm most certainly not complaining, I'm just a tad tired. So tired in fact that I sat down last night to publish this post and I fell asleep in the recliner until 5am! That's what I get for sitting down in the comfy chair I suppose. :)

Softball is in full gear, Anika has had practice 6 out of the past 7 nights! Sunday's are the only day of rest around here! Emma has her T-ball practice twice a week, but unfortunately her practice is a 15-20 minute drive - we weren't so lucky to have a local team for her to play on.

And, our PTSO Family Fun Fair is tomorrow, so I've been running around in circles trying to coordinate everything for that and have asked myself on numerous occasions why I did I volunteer for this? I know it's for a good cause, but sometimes I wish I was just a helper, not the leader. Problem is I can't find anyone else willing to do it....so we shall see what happens next fall.

How's your week going? .
