Football season -you either love it, or your fall somewhere in between. I’m the kind of person who whiles not a die-hard fan, loves getting into the spirit and cheering teams on, especially our local high school and college teams.
My favorite part about football season is that it brings friends and family together, and gives us all an excuse to cheer and celebrate. It also means we can enjoy some delicious tailgating food!
Just because it’s fall doesn’t mean I put my BBQ away; on the contrary we use ours year round, and I could eat BBQ food all of the time - it’s just that good. :)
While I normally cook Foster Farms Chicken Breasts for the family, my kids actually prefer chicken legs, so I’ll buy a package of Foster Farms’ Fresh & Natural Chicken legs and BBQ them up for dinner occasionally, or I’ll kick them up a bit with some fresh thyme, bacon, and Stubb’s Bar-B-Q Sauce Stubb’s Bar-B-Q Sauce is awesome because it has no high-fructose corn syrup and no artificial preservatives, colors, sweeteners, flavorings, or MSG, and it has a really good authentic Texas style flavor that makes everything taste better.
To make chicken legs, you really only need a couple of things...but man are they good.
Bacon Wrapped Hickory Smoked BBQ Chicken Legs with Rosemary
What you need:
2 pounds of Foster Farms Fresh & Natural Chicken Legs
½ bottle of Hickory Smoked Stubb’s Bar-B-Q Sauce
12 ounces of uncured bacon
Fresh Rosemary
Salt and Pepper to taste.
- Preheat your BBQ.
- Pull the chicken skin back from each leg and stuff with fresh rosemary - you won’t need much, just enough for flavor.
- Take one slice of bacon and carefully wrap each chicken leg until it is all covered.
- Place chicken on a high grill and sear each side, turning in the direction of the bacon so it will cook on and will not unroll.
- Turn the heat to low and begin basting the chicken with the BBQ sauce, turning every few minutes until the internal temperature is 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Serve with your favorite sides for the perfect fall meal or tailgating treat.
Foster Farm’s Fresh & Natural Chicken is locally raised in the Pacific Northwest and is my favorite because it’s always fresh, 100% natural and American Humane Certified, with no added hormones or steroids. You can find the chicken, along with Stubb’s Bar-B-Q sauces at Safeway and Albertsons, and keep an eye out for an instant redeemable coupon in store when you buy both the Foster Farm’s Chicken and Stubb’s Bar-B-Q sauce (expires 12/31/15).
What are you favorite things to BBQ in the fall?

These drumsticks look and sound amazing! I love the addition of the bacon wrapped around them and the thyme. [client]
ReplyDeleteI agree with Janet, and I didn't know that about Foster Farms chicken!
ReplyDeleteWe are staring to see more meat labeled certified hala, where the animal was not butchered humanely! Costco business stores and some Winco carry various halal meat. So now you won't see me shop there at all for anything! Foster Farms chicken is all I ever purchase even before this halal stuff showed up. I hope you will also speak out to corporate and join me in being selective where you shop.
DeleteIt's rosemary, not thyme.
ReplyDeleteYou are ABSOLUTELY right. Thank you for catching my typo! :)
