Have you heard of a Kamikaze before? I can honestly say I hadn't, not until I purchased a cocktail book at a second hand store the other day. It is a classic cocktail that I just had to try. It has a really refreshing taste that I imagine will be perfect on a summer evening.
Kamikaze
1oz vodka
1oz triple sec
1/2 oz fresh lime juice
1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
white wine (recipe calls for dry; I used a Riesling and it turned out well too)
Ice
Shake first four ingredients well in shaker with ice.
Strain into a chilled glass, then top it off with wine.
It sounded odd to me at first, but turned out really good!

mmmm, those are so tasty! But my advice is don't drink to many of them at one sitting. It's the voice of experience.

ReplyDeleteThis looks so yummy! I always wondered what a Kamikaze was made out of, for our senior sorority bar crawl we had shirts with the poem from cocktail (tom cruise movie) on it (it mentions Kamikaze) and we kept asking the bartenders to make drinks listed in the poem, this was one of the drinks none of them knew :)

Good Morning Melissa, I love cocktails, but I have never heard of a Kamikaze....what have I been missing. I love the fact that it contains German Riesling as although this seems to be out of favour at the moment, I love it .... it harks back to the days when I lived in Germany.

Most people on this blog must be pretty young, I'm in my mid 30's and we used to drink these in high school. The bartender used to make us Kazi shots as well as the drink itself they are delicious!
